Terry Martin was born in Baltimore, Maryland. He received a B.A. degree in government and education from the University of Oklahoma, did post-graduate work at various institutions, and served with the marines. Terry Martin moved to Alaska in 1965. He is the owner of a medical supply company. He is the founder of the Boys Clubs of Alaska and a co-founder of the Girls Clubs of Alaska.
